Egyptian Whirling Dervishes Whirl their Audience into a State of Ecstasy

The India-Arab Cultural Center at Jamia, in collaboration with the Egyptian Embassy, showcased a “Sufi Dance and Music Show” at the Ansari Auditorium on Dec. 9, 2010.

The Egyptian troupe are part of the Mawlawi Sufi order, which was founded by the followers of Jalaluddin Rumi, the 13th century Persian poet and Sufi in present day Turkey.
