The blood donation drive was organized by the National Service Scheme at Jamia in collaboration with Red Ribbon Club, Intensive Counseling & Testing Center, Youth Friendly Health Service, Rotary Club and Rotaract Club.

The camp was inaugurated by Professor Zahid Hussain Khan, Dean of Student Welfare.

The purpose of the camp was not only to collect blood for the blood bank, but it was also geared towards creating awareness among the youth on the importance of donating blood.

According to Dr. Abid Hussain, the NSS coordinator, the camp collected a remarkable 427 units of blood in one day. ”This is the highest by any such camp in New Delhi; we have broken our own previous record,” said Hussain.

The most notable part of the drive was the keen participation of female students, he noted.

He further added, the camp was a huge success, all thanks to the 45 dynamic volunteers from NSS, RRC & ROTARACT Club. All of them did a tremendous job in encouraging not only students but also the Jamia community in donating blood.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor S.M. Rashid had visited the camp in the evening and was very glad to see such success, said Hussain.
