PSA: YES Invites Application For Scholarships

[Following is a Public Service Announcement]

Youth Empowerment Services, YES, a Jamia Nagar based NGO, is inviting applications for YES ACHIEVER’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2011-12.

YES Achiever’s Scholarship Programme is a Talent Search Programme to select and mentor 20 students for high achievements. The recipient of YES Achiever’s Scholarship Programme shall be provided following:

a)  Grant of Scholarship: Students will be provided scholarship of Rs. 1,500/- per month for one academic year, i.e. from July 2011 to April 2012.

b) Enrollment into YES Achiever programme. YES Achiever’s programme is a long term personal development programme that starts with carrying out Personal and Professional Qualities Assessment, followed by the identification of spiritual, family, social, physical & intellectual goals. An integrated action plan is drawn up backed by Capacity Building & Time Management Plans.

A dedicated counselor works with youth to help achieve objectives. By the end of the programme the youth would be a role model for the community having realized his or her full leadership potential.

Eligibility:

1st / 2nd / 3rd toppers and students with minimum 75% of class VIII to graduation studying or residing in Jamia Nagar & Hamdard Nagar, Delhi and Aligarh are eligible to apply.

Application Procedure:

Applicants need to submit the application form along with the following enclosures at the YES Centre.

a) An essay (typed) in not more than 300 words (may be English/ Hindi/ Urdu) justifying your consideration of the scholarship.

b) A Recommendation Letter of Principal/ Head of the school/college.

Selection Procedure

Candidates are required to apply according to the mentioned application procedure.

After screening of the applications, eligible candidates would be called for interview. The final selection of the candidate would be based on the joint decision of the members of selection board.

However, selection of the candidates would be on the basis of the merit and need. The preference shall be given to students having good academic background, belonging to minority community, low family income, studying professional courses, sportspersons (minimum state level), Girl candidate, or regular participant in YES Programmes.

Expectations from Awardees

a)    Awardees have to work on one of the Community Network Projects as part of YES AAA and have to give minimum 3 hours in a month / 36 hours in a year.

b)    Awardees have to take up the YES Achiever Programme for his/her complete character & career development.

c)    YES Achievers being part of YES AAA will further sponsor scholarship after settling in career / life.  It is essential for YES Achiever to be a sponsor as YES Achiever’s scholarship is a grant to the community; it is to be recycled for ongoing benefit of other needy students.

  Application Forms Available from: 21st  July’11 (Thursday)

  Last Date for Submission of Application Forms: 7th August’11 (Sunday)

  Announcement of Candidates Selected for Interview: 9th August’11 (Tuesday)

  Dates for Interview: 10th-13th August’11 (Wednesday- Sunday)

  Announcement of Candidates selected for Scholarships:  15th August’11 (Monday)

  1. Hello, i am a passed out student from a leading school from delhi. I really want to apply for the program. However, My principal isnt available at the moment. Since the last date for form submission is near, Can i get the recommendation letter from the academic head of our school?
