‘Give and Take Books’: A Jamia Run Book Donation Drive for the Needy

[Note: Following is an official Jamia Press Release.]

The Outreach Programme, Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with Youth Empowerment Services is going to organize a community development initiative called ‘Give & Take Books’ in the coming week on the university campus.

The objective of the programme is to generate the spirit of giving and sharing, in this case old and unused books. Those who wish to donate their old and unused books can do so on two days i.e. 17-18 August 2011 on the university campus. Stalls would be set up on the gates of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Humanities and Languages and the Main Campus for collecting books from 10 AM to 2 PM.

Thereafter the student volunteers would catalogue them which would then be passed on to those who are in need of these books. For displaying these books, stalls would be set up on 23 August 2011 in the Main Campus Lawn of Jamia Millia Islamia. Students and others who are in need of these books can pick them up from the venue on the 23rd.

The objective of the programme is not just to raise the spirit of giving and sharing but also to help economically weak sections, as also encouraging volunteerism in those working for the programme.
