Jamia Millia Islamia has begun a new academic initiative to give fillip to research on campus. The university has launched an ‘Interdisciplinary Discussion Group’ which will begin its activities starting this Monday i.e. October 24, 2011.

The ‘Interdisciplinary Discussion Group’ is conceived with the idea of bringing faculty and students’ research on a common platform. The format of the ‘Interdisciplinary Discussion Group’ is that every month there will be a research paper presentation by a faculty member and a research scholar from different departments and centres of Jamia. They will share their ongoing research in their area of expertise and specialization.

The Vice Chancellor Mr. Najeeb Jung will preside over the session.

Speaking about this new initiative Mr. Najeeb Jung said, ‘The objective behind this exercise is to not only to generate discussion around ongoing research on campus but the it is to also encourage students’ to make public presentations and share their work with the wider academic community.’ He added that this will be an opportunity to bring together different kinds of researches going on in the university on a common platform which will allow us to share and build our knowledge base together.
