Prime Minister of Tibetan Government-in-Exile to Speak at Jamia on Nov. 30

Dr. K.R. Narayanan  Centre for Dalit and Minorities Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize the 6th Dr. K.R. Narayanan Annual Memorial Lecture on “Democracy in Exile: The Case of Tibet”.

The Lecture will be delivered by the Honorable Sikyong (Prime Minister), Dr. Lobsang Sangay, Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India.

Honorable Sikyong Dr. Labsang Sangay completed BA (Hons) and LLB degrees from Delhi University and obtained his Doctorate degree in Judicial Sciences in 2004 from Harvard Law School. He has also been a research fellow and a senior fellow at Harvard.

He is an expert on International Human Rights Law, Democratic Constitutionalism and Conflict Resolution. He has spoken in hundreds of seminars around the world and organized major conferences among Chinese, Tibetan, Indian and Western scholars including two unprecedented meetings between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Chinese scholars at Harvard University.

In 2011, he was elected to the post of the Sikyong (Prime Minister) in an unprecedented competitive democratic election in the Tibetan diaspora.

The programme is scheduled to be held on November 30, 2012 at 11 AM in Edward Said Hall, Near Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Jamia Millia Islamia.
