Dept. of Commerce and Business Studies Release Placement e-Brochure

The Department Of Commerce and Business Studies formally released their department Placement e-Brochure at the Edward Said Hall on Thursday, March 21, 2013.

The launch was for the digital or electronic brochure to promote the placement activities for the final year graduate and postgraduate students in Department Of Commerce and Business Studies. [Link to Brochure]

The program began with the recitation of the verses from The Holy Quran by Hafiz Waseem Akram, a PhD student in the department. Ms. Tuba Noman, a postgraduate student in the department presented the Welcome Address.

Prof. Khan Masood Khan, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences who is also The Head of Department of Commerce and Business Studies said in his inaugural address that the students have worked very hard to make this possible. He also said that the course structure for PG course has been revised and now they are working on the PhD course structure. Prof. Khan added that they are also planning for an alumni meet very soon.

Mr. Najeeb Jung, Vice Chancellor was also present at the launch ceremony. In his keynote address Mr. Jung said that M.Com is a very prestigious program of a university. The concerned department has setback in terms of reputation, it is extremely important for the redemption of the lost repute. He further said that one may get a job and if he or she is not eligible to work, it’s of no use. The link of one’s employment is connected to his/her family and friends, what if one gets a job and is unable to hold it?

He advised the students not to worry about jobs. “If you deserve a job, no power on earth can stop you,” he said. He also said your objective rather should be to lead a full life.

In respect to the alumni meet he said it is a great initiative. Use the alumni network to gather information, make contacts and avoid the recommendation part. Don’t host an alumni meet for the purpose of getting jobs. He congratulated the students and faculty for this initiative.

The ceremony ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. M.K. Nabi, teacher placement co-ordinator in the department of commerce and business studies. He acknowledged the works of Danish Hameed, Tuba Noman, Syed Faraz, Zofail Hasan and Aziza Akhtar, all PG students in the department.

The other faculty members present at the release ceremony were Prof. Altaf Khan who praised the work of aforementioned students.
