Sunil R. Parekh Delivers Lecture on “Integrating Innovation in our Lives”

Mr. Sunil R. Parekh, Advisor, Zydus Cadilla, Founder Curator, World Economic Forum, Geneva delivered a Lecture on “Integrating Innovation in our Lives” organized by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) today i.e. November 10, 2014 in the Auditorium of Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia.

The purpose of the lecture was to encourage and motivate students to pursue entrepreneurship and make innovation a part of their lives. Prof .Mini S.Thomas gave a walk-through to the audience about the past activities and future plans of CIE. She introduced Mr. Parekh to the audience.

Mr. Parekh thanked everyone for inviting him to JMI for the session and recalled his days at IIT, Delhi in the early seventies when Jamia Millia Islamia had already established an enviable reputation for its excellent academic programmes.

He started off by talking about the contribution of Youth to the Innovation Landscape and Entrepreneurship and how technology plays a crucial role for bettering the economic state of a country. After that he elaborated on the role of Innovation and the technological position of India on the global map. He quoted “You don’t have to be intelligent in order to be creative” and reiterated this idea to bring home the point. He gave an over view of myriad fields where Innovation could be applied. He then moved on to give some practical examples of innovative products across the world.

The audience in the jam-packed auditorium was completely enraptured by Mr.Parekh’s words. The talk concluded with an interactive session with Mr. Parekh.

Prof. Talat Ahmed, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia, also addressed the gathering. He thanked Mr. Parekh and CIE for organizing such an inspiring session. He also shared some of his views regarding Innovation with the gathering.

Later, “Innovate for a Change” – a university level competition on innovation was launched through a video and presentation by Ashar Javed.
