About AIYD
Australia and India share much in common. Both are members of the Commonwealth, have similar institutions of parliamentary democracy, free and vibrant press and are active members in multilateral forums. To embrace these similarities at a youth level, a platform for young leaders to come together annually has been created – the Australia India Youth Dialogue (AIYD).
The AIYD will create a formal dialogue between the youth of Australia and India. The establishment of the dialogue will provide a sustainable platform for the young leaders of Australia and India to come together and foster a strong partnership between the two countries. The conference will bring 15 young Australian leaders and 15 young Indian leaders together to hold constructive dialogue about various issues of significance to the Australia-India relationship, including the strategic partnership between Australia and India, the education sector, bilateral trade and investment, the resources sector and security concerns.
The inaugural Australia India Youth Dialogue will be hosted at the end of January 2012 (27th – 30th are tentative dates), in New Delhi and Mumbai.
