The Department of History and Culture, Faculty of Humanities and Languages, Jamia Millia Islamia is going to organize a Lecture on “The Museumised Cityscape of Mysore” by Prof. Janki Nair.
The lecture is based on a chapter from her recently published book called Mysore Modern: Rethinking the Region under Princely Rule.
Prof. Janki Nair teaches History at the Centre for Historical Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her research and teaching interests include legal, urban, women’s and labour history, feminism and feminist theory, and the study of the visual traditions and cultures. Her books include: Women and Law in Colonial India, Miners and Millhands: Work, Culture and Politics in Princely Mysore, The Promise of the Metropolis: Bangalore’s Twentieth Century and Mysore Modern: Rethinking the Region under Princely Rule.
The lecture is scheduled to be held on 15 November, 2012 at 12.15 PM in the seminar room of the Department of History and Culture, Jamia Millia Islamia.
