IASE, Faculty of Education Conducts its Annual Athletic Meet – 2014
Institute of Advanced Studies (IASE), Faculty of Education organized its Annual Athletic Meet from 5th March to 22nd March 2014, at the TTI Hockey Ground. Athletics meet is part of the teachers training program with individual sports events and Inter-House competitions.
All the students of B.Ed. and ETE are divided into eight houses that are named after social and educational figures such as Zakir, Sayyadain, Gandhi, Azad, Nehru, Ajmal, Ansari and Mujeeb house, in which each house is assigned a faculty adviser who guides the students for different cultural, camp and sports activities during the session.
The inter-house competitions included many games such as Dodge Ball, in which opposing teams try to hit other with a ball; Handy Footy, in which girls can score goals by hand; Ball Pass Relay, in which a ball is passed from one person to another in a queue; Cricket, both boys and girls play in a team; Tug of War; Three Legged Race; and Relay Race.
On the other hand, individual events included Chatti Race, Obstacle Race, Skipping Race (Girls Only), Sack Race, Shot-put, Long Jump, High Jump, Medicine ball throw, Cricket ball throw (Girls Only) , Race for 100, 400 and 1500 meters (Boys Only).
All the teachers and students enjoyed the inter house and individual competitions and supported their respective houses.
At the closing ceremony of the Athletic Meet, Prof Shoeb Abdullah, Head, Faculty of Education, encouraged the participants and blessed all students for their future. He also gave a inspirational speech to students so that they can continue these games in their life and in schools where they will end up teaching in the future.
The award for Best Athlete (Male) was won by Deepak (ETE 1st Year) and Best Athlete (Female) was won by Vandana Kaushik (ETE 2nd Year). Zakir House won the trophy for the best house in the tournament and Gandhi House came in second.
