According to a Jamia internal memo dated Aug. 29th, former Central Bureau of Investigation’s special director Dr K Saleem Ali, who supervised the agency’s high profile Ishrat Jahan encounter case, was appointed Honorary Director for the Centre for Coaching and Career Planning, and “counselling on vigilance matters” at Jamia.
Among his other stated roles is to be an adviser to the vice-chancellor on issues relating to the “futuristic” development of the university.
According to his profile on the CBI website, Dr. K. Saleem Ali, is an IPS Officer (now retired) of 1978 Batch (Manipur-Tripura Cadre) who relinquished the charge of Special Director CBI on superannuation in 2013. Before joining the CBI, he was Director General of Police in Tripura. Dr. Ali is a Post Graduate in Chemistry, an M.B.A (International Finance) and Ph.D in Conflict Management. He has been decorated with the Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
