As reported earlier on Aug. 17, the Outreach Programme in collaboration with the Youth Empowerment Services (YES!), organized a three-day community development initiative called ‘Give & Take Books’ on campus on Aug. 17, 18 and 23.
Following their book collection drives on Aug. 17 and 18 — today, Tuesday, Aug. 23, a big stall was erected near the Maulana Azad gate on the main campus, where all the books that were collected during the book donation drive, were given away to anyone who might need them.
Judging by the books displayed at the stall, YES! had managed to collect a few hundred books. However, when Jamia Journal spoke to Mohammed Mudassir, a YES! volunteer behind the counter, he said he wasn’t sure exactly how many books they had collected this year, but he was sure it was in the thousands.
At the time Jamia Journal visited the stall around 12:30 p.m., the entire stall was surrounded by students picking out books they might need.
The stall was being manned by five YES! volunteers, who were busy helping students find the books they needed.
