Delhi High Court Reschedules Hearing on Jamia Students Union

According to an article titled, “Jamia Students Poll: HC Judge Recuses From Hearing,” dated Dec. 21, 2011 in the magazine Outlook: Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri of the Delhi High Court today recused himself from a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) hearing seeking directions to Jamia authorities to hold students’ union elections.

He cited conflict of interest as the reason, for he has represented the university in court as a lawyer earlier.

The PIL was filed yesterday by three students, namely, Ikrar Khan, Afroz Alam Sahil and Naseem Ahmed.

The hearing has been rescheduled for January 9 under a new bench of judges.
