The non-academic department of horticulture at Jamia organized a “flower show” in the lawns of Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium on Monday, Feb. 27, 2012.
In an interview with Jamia Journal, Khalid Hussain, the garden supervisor, said that this is the first time the department of horticulture has organized such an event.
He went on to say, the reason the department decided to hold a flower show was to make people aware of what the department does, and to create public interest in gardening or horticulture.
“Logo mai josh paida ho, lagao paida ho agriculture mai,” he said.
Mr. Hussain added that the department is planning to make this an annual event.
Besides several kinds of flowers, there were also some vegetables and bonsai plants on display.
