Dept of Pol. Sci. with ‘The Origin’ Observe Human Rights Day at Jamia

Department of Political Science, JMI in collaboration with The Origin, an NGO working for the underprivileged section of society, observed Human Rights Day on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014  with a lecture, and with an essay writing and poster making competition held at the Department of Political Science.

The theme of the Human Rights Programme was “Promotion and Protection of Human Rights: Contemporary Issues and Challenges.”

The chief guest and keynote speaker for the occasion was Lenin Raghuvanshi, a notable Human Rights Activist. Raghuvanshi spoke on the rights of dalits and minorities in India.

Followed by his talk, prizes for essay writing and poster making competition were distributed by the the chief guest, Lenin Raghuvanshi; the Head of Department of Political Science, Prof. Badrul Alam; and the president of The Origin, Mr. Sharique Nadeem.

More than 250 students from different universities participated in both the Essay and Poster Making Competition.
